History

Maxey Moverley Limited was established in 1996 as a specialist electronic repair and support provider to the UK electronics industry.

Founded by Andrew Beckett and Lawrence Croft, who were then working within a multinational electronics manufacturing and services organisation, the business was created in response to a clear gap in the market. At the time, there was no professional, high-quality outsourcing solution dedicated to complex electronic repair. Maxey Moverley was formed to meet this need, delivering dependable repair and technical support services to nationwide security, retail, and specialist electronics customers.

A commitment to quality was embedded from the outset. In 1998, the company achieved ISO 9001 accreditation from BSI, a standard that has been maintained continuously ever since and is now held at ISO 9001:2015 level.

Over time, Maxey Moverley developed strong positions in its core markets of Security, Refrigeration, and Food Service, working closely with manufacturers, service providers, and end users across the UK and internationally.

Significant milestones followed:

2007 – Took over the manufacture and support of the Honeywell-Elm range of refrigeration control equipment.

Late 2000s – Expanded through the integration of several major repair operations, including RCS Energy Management (acquired from Carrier Corporation / UTC), Chubb Community Care repairs, the Norbain security repair centre, and PTS repair operations. This period established a national field service capability alongside in-house repair and manufacturing expertise.

2011 – Relocated head office to a dedicated 20,000 sq. ft. repair facility in Redditch, supporting further professionalisation and operational growth.

2017 – After many years as exclusive UK repair partner to the Tyco Group, Maxey Moverley took on full reverse-logistics operations, including engineer returns and service stock management. Later that year, co-founder Lawrence Croft retired, and Andrew Beckett became sole Managing Director.

2018 – The RCS operation was fully integrated into the Maxey Moverley brand, unifying the company’s offering across all sectors.

2019 – Migration to an SQL-based platform for the company’s industry-leading work management system, alongside major enhancements to the online customer portal, providing full visibility of repairs, stock, and despatch activity.

2020 – Launch of a new website with full online trading functionality, enabling customers to purchase parts or book repairs directly. Today, more than 9,000 part lines are available online. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Maxey Moverley maintained a full service to support customers during an exceptionally challenging period.

Investment in research and development continues to ensure capability across new and evolving technologies entering the market.

In 2023, the business moved into brand-new, purpose-designed premises on Enfield Industrial Estate in Redditch. These facilities significantly improved operational efficiency and marked a major step forward in sustainability. With roof-mounted solar panels generating more electricity annually than the business consumes, and a new heat-pump-based HVAC system, the building operates at net zero.

At the start of 2024, the company was deeply saddened by the sudden and premature passing of co-founder Lawrence Croft. Lawrence was instrumental in shaping Maxey Moverley and is fondly remembered by colleagues, customers, and partners alike.

Recent developments include the 2025 launch of an eBay shop, supplying refurbished printed circuit boards and electronic units, particularly for the catering sector, and continued strong growth of the company’s Traffic division, now one of its largest business areas.

In 2025, Maxey Moverley also agreed a science-based carbon emissions reduction target with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to halve Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, relative to a 2021 baseline.

Nearly three decades on, Maxey Moverley remains focused on quality, technical excellence, sustainability, and long-term partnerships with its customers.
